Valeyo Mencía Red wine
Valeyo Mencía is a red wine made in the DO Bierzo by Bodegas Mauro. Aged for 12 months in new and used 500-litre French oak barrels.
Bodegas Mauro has 10 hectares of vineyards in Valtuille de Arriba and Villafranca del Bierzo, planted with the Godello and Mencía varieties.
Valeyo comes from the Miguel Rey plot, 3 hectares in Valtuille de Arriba at 650 meters above sea level. With yields of between 4,000 and 5,000 kg, the vineyard is managed in a trellis and is cultivated organically, with biodynamic practices, as a guarantee of preventive and sustainable viticulture.
Pickaxe red colour and purple trim. On the nose it is very complex, intense and deep, with fruity notes (cherries, blackberries, strawberries), spices and herbaceous touches. On the palate it is balanced, with fine and elegant tannins. Very fresh and subtle.
91 points Peñín.
