Vineyards: The base variety is Tempranillo (95%) from the farms Las Cuevas, El Palo and Las Monjas in Rodezno united with 5% of Graciano from the Montecillo estate in Fuenmayor. • Elaboration and aging: We start the harvest for Tempranillo and, 17 days later, we collect the Graciano de Montecillo, the last plot we harvested. All grapes were transported refrigerated in small boxes to preserve their integrity. We ferment alcoholicly in deposits for 16 days, in the case of Tempranillo and for 18 days in Graciano. Malolactic fermentation took place naturally and, in March 2013, the selected wines were passed into home-made American oak barrels with an average age of 4.5 years. During their three-year ageing, they were transferred by the traditional method every 6 months. In March 2016 the last blend was made, mixing both varieties until reaching the magnificent balance that characterizes this first Viña Arana Gran Reserva. Cherry red colour, with maroon rim. High aromatic intensity, the aromas of ripe red fruits, redberries, wild strawberry and black plum jam stand out, giving way to the tertiary aromas of the careful ageing in wood: vanilla, cedar, tobacco, coffee, caramel and sweet notes of pastry. In the mouth, its initial freshness and structure predominate, typical of this brand. Balanced, with soft and sweet tannins. An elegant, complex finish, where notes of ripe red fruits and balsamic notes leave a splendid finish. A wine with a long capacity to continue improving in the bottle. Specially recommended with all kinds of meats and stews, seasoned fish, desserts with chocolate topping or red fruits. Perfect as a tabletop cup.
