Pittacum Red wine
Pittacum was one of the first reds of the new batch of great Bercian wines. Its grapes come from old vines planted on a slope, on deep, medium-fertility and well-drained soils, which guarantee contained vigor and correct maturation. It has taken fifteen years of in-depth studies of the skills of each corner of the soil to identify those with the greatest viticultural vocation and understand the true potential of each small piece of land.
Intense and very dark pillory color with purple edges. Glossy and high layer. Dense tear that stains the glass. Intense varietal aromas. Lots of red and black fruit that is expressed slowly, suggestively to explode once opened. Sifted with intense roasts, lots of cocoa, toffee, tobacco and distant mineral memories of humid soil. Very good balsamic base, full of menthols, eucalyptus, licorice. A very rich, dry, astringent, fleshy Bierzo wine. Delicate entrance with a smooth, silky and very tasty step. Liqueur fruit full of toasted nuances and well-integrated wood. Excellent acidity. Tannins present, somewhat astringent. Very long finish that leaves a smoky aftertaste.
Grilled red meats, stews, cured cheeses, Iberian acorn-fed ham, beef, beef in sauce, red meats with sauce.
93 points Peñín.
