Our Forcallà variety is 55 years old and has a free foot planted in sandy terrain in the westernmost part of Fontanars at 700 meters altitude. The 2014 harvest had a spring with moderate and fresh rainfall. From May we had one of the biggest droughts in the last 20 years, with no rainfall until November, therefore a very dry year. By not having irrigation we increase the tillage work to maintain the low humidity of spring, thus advancing the harvest about 12 days, and reaching 14º degrees of alcohol.
In our opinion a good vintage for the Forcallà, with ripe nugget and slightly lignified scrape.
Elaboration: Fermentation with native yeast in stainless steel tanks of 2000 lts. with 10% scrape, with slight comebacks. Maceration at 26º C for 21 days.
Aging: 8 months in used French oak barrels of 500 lts.
Nose: Red fruit and berries. A certain lactic touch.
Mouth: Very fresh, with tension and a balsamic touch.
