Alonso del Yerro Red wine
Terroir: Great diversity of soils located at more than 800 m altitude, all very calcareous, from the typical red clay of Ribera to the sand with gravel, then comes the character and complexity of Alonso de el Yerro.
The 2009 vintage: A vintage to coastal style. A cold winter, a dry spring, a very warm and dry summer allowed a very healthy viticulture and little interventionist. From September the cold night temperatures optimized the ripening of the grapes at the tannic and aromatic levels. A great vintage, mature and comprehensive, allowing the grape to fully express the virtues of our terroir.
Vintage: October 7 did a first selection, strain by ECA, in the fifth of Pedro plot, harvesting to those who had suffered the heat of August. Then hopefully one more week and from 14 to 18 October back to harvest under ideal conditions, without haste, fulfilling our celling philosophy without that intervene any meteorological or sanitary factor.
Drawing: slow and soft to extract the best tannins which offers generous 2009 grape. Pigeages, long maceration (between 25 and 29 days), for about 12 months in French oak (with 25% new wood) designed one of the Alonso de el Yerro more achieved since the creation of the winery.
