Originating from Viña Real's own vineyard "La Romera," which spans almost 2 hectares in Labastida, this wine reflects the meticulous care taken throughout its production. The vineyard, established over 40 years ago, benefits from clay-rich soil and pebbles that provide excellent drainage. Nestled at the foothills of Mount Toloño, it enjoys a south-facing exposure that protects it from northern winds, allowing for optimal ripening during the sun-drenched days of August and September, while cooler nights preserve the natural acidity of the grapes.

Each step in the winemaking process is thoughtfully executed. The grapes are hand-picked in boxes of 20 kg, with a second selection performed at the winery. The semi-crushed grapes undergo fermentation with natural yeasts in small controlled temperature tanks, reaching approximations of 30ºC, and are subject to daily manual mixing. Aged for 12 months in 300-liter French oak barrels, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, with periodic batonnages enhancing its complexity before bottling.

The resulting wine exhibits a brilliant garnet color with a rich depth. On the nose, it reveals a delightful bouquet reminiscent of forest fruits, particularly blueberries and blackcurrants, interwoven with the distinctive licorice notes typical of the Tempranillo variety. The barrel aging contributes additional layers of complexity, including hints of clove, smokiness, and toasted nuances.

On the palate, Pagos de Viña Real delivers a smooth entry, marked by well-balanced tannins that harmonize beautifully with the wine's velvety texture. Its fresh acidity adds length and vitality, resulting in a delightful medley of fruity flavors combined with sweet spices.
