Comenge Biberius Red wine
Comenge Biberius is the youngest wine from Bodegas Comenge, first produced in 2008. The name pays homage to Emperor Tiberius, affectionately nicknamed Biberius by his troops due to his passion for wines from the region. This vibrant red wine, crafted from 100% Tempranillo grapes, is sourced annually from the Los Silos and Carrapiñel vineyards located in Pesquera de Duero, where the vines thrive in calcareous soils and are cultivated under the principles of organic farming.
With an alcohol content of 14.5%, the 2023 vintage showcases the intense aromatic profile characteristic of its source. After a brief aging of three months in French oak Bordeaux barrels, Comenge Biberius presents an alluring deep violet color. Its aromatic bouquet is rich with notes of cherries, raspberries, blueberries, and elderberries, complemented by a subtle sweetness from the well-ripened grapes. The aging process infuses layers of vanilla, chocolate, and caramel into the fruit-forward palate, creating a delightful harmony.
On the palate, this young wine captivates with its juicy acidity, fine tannins, and medium body, making it exceptionally easy to drink. The flavors of red fruits and creamy oak are intense, while undertones of fragrant underbrush and licorice add excellent complexity. Comenge Biberius is an excellent choice for pairing with tapas, white meats, charcuterie, and cheeses, making it a versatile addition to any culinary experience. Enjoy the lively spirit of this wine, perfect for sharing with friends or savoring on your own.
